I have done several courses in portraiture at the London Fine Art Studio, Battersea and have always done life drawing alongside my practice, holding classes at my home in London.

I have two children Daisy and Alfie and I know how important it is not just to get a likeness but to capture your child's personality too. I provide a wide range of mediums: pencil, charcoal, oil or mixed media and can work in a traditional or more abstract style to cater to people's wishes. Please see selected work below.

I now offer commissions in my more contemporary painting style alongside my traditional work. I like to think this offers something a bit different.

I look forward to exploring ideas with you to capture that moment in time, whether it is an informal, or more formal portrait you are after.

I have been creating portraits for people since I was 16 years old. My main goal is always to capture the character of the person or animal in my work.

THE PROCESS

HOW IT WORKS

Portraits can be created from photos either provided by you or from a photo shoot with Davina. She works in pencil, charcoal, pastel, oil or even contemporary mixed media to achieve the look that you want or to keep within a certain budget.

Initial Chat

Share your ideas, reference photos and preferences. I can use photographs provided by you as long as they are of a high quality.

Quote & Timeline

I will confirm the cost and expected timeframe once the size, medium, and practical details of the artwork have been agreed. Please note there is generally a 6 month waiting list but I will always try to accommodate where possible.

Creation

You’ll receive updates at key stages during the process. A final preview will be provided for your approval before the artwork is carefully prepared to ship.

Framing & Delivery Options

Framing can be arranged on request. All artworks are securely packaged and fully tracked on their journey to you.

Larger sizes or multiple subjects available on request.

Please note that portrait prices depend on size and content, particularly where background scenery and multiple subjects are included.

Travel expenses and post and packaging may be added to the cost as well.

GETTING THE PERFECT PHOTO

When taking your own photographs, take in a light room, close to a window or outside. Be careful of direct sunlight casting too much of a shadow.

For pets, get someone to help you with treats if necessary, so that the animal is looking over your shoulder with ears pricked.

Try getting down to the height of the animal or child so that they aren't looking up at you.

For head portraits of pets, a 3/4 view is best. For full body, try to take the side of the animal with the animal looking towards or past the camera.

What is a commission?

A commission is a custom artwork created specifically for you. It allows you to have a unique piece that reflects your vision and preferences. Davina works closely with you to ensure your ideas are beautifully realised.

How long does it take?

The time frame for a commission varies based on complexity and Davina's current workload. Generally, you can expect your portrait to be completed within 4 to 6 months. However, if there is an urgent date this can normally be accommodated to make it work! This can be discussed during the initial consultation.

What are the prices?

Pricing for custom portraits start from £300 (for a miniature A5 drawing), depending on size and detail. Davina offers various options to suit different budgets. A detailed pricing guide will be provided during your consultation.

Do you offer framing?

Yes, framing options are available for your commissioned portrait. Davina collaborates with local framers to ensure the best presentation for your artwork. You can discuss your preferences during the commissioning process.

Do I need professional photos?

Not at all — Davina works from natural, candid images too.

Can you ship internationally?

Yes. Framed or unframed — Davina ships securely worldwide.
